Question: How do I connect Crystal Reports to QuickBooks?

Answer: QuickBooks must be open because it works by communicating with the application directly. For example, if you base a report off of a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that is password protected... the report will only run if the spreadsheet is opened in Microsoft Excel.

The only way to use the file DSN you have set up is to have QuickBooks open.
